Favourites: Afterglow
You remember last year when I stumbled upon this gorgeous app, I was pretty excited to have found an easy to use Iphone camera photo editor.
Well, this year, I’ve found another sweet little bag of tricks which I think you’ll love just as much!
Afterglow is a real winner to me, thanks to its simple interface and quick and easy editing controls. What I really want in a camera editing app is something that feels a bit like Photoshop – I want to be able to control exposure, contrast, saturation and more and I want to be able to do that multiple times for the same image (e.g. layers like Photoshop). But, I don’t want it to be cumbersome. Afterglow fits all of this perfectly.
I’ve found I’m using it more than VSCo (gasp!) and it links straight to all my social media feeds (including our favourite) which makes the whole process of snapping, editing and instagramming super quick which we’re all about here (we’ve got stuff to do, not time to muck around with our phones).
Afterglow is also really easy to use:
- Just take a photo or import one
- Use the editing apps to change contrast, highlights, brightness, saturation, temperature, shadow and highlights (and their tones!), graininess, exposure or you can fade your photo as well
- Use one of the filters to add some effects if you want, or leave your photo as is (you can just use it like Photoshop without adding the filters which is great)
- Save and add to your social media
There is a choice of how big you want your file size to be as well which is pretty neat (800px through to 2341px).
You can see some of the effects here:
There is also a bunch of cute frames, including a circle and a heart which are fun too.
Can you believe this clever little app is designed and updated by only two developers – Simon Filip and Keynut. We think that is pretty amazing!
Sneak a peek at all the bells and whistles and buy the app here.
P.S. We aren’t affiliated with Afterglow at all, we just think it’s pretty cool.
[see what else we can't live without]

I just downloaded this app the other day but haven’t tried it. Love that it links to instagram! I so need to do better with my phone pics – hopefully this will help!
You’ll love it Steph! I use it all the time now.
